The Department of Civil Engineering, Annamacharya Institute of Technology & Sciences, Tirupati conducted a seminar on 31.1.2020, where the attendees gathered the knowledge of earthquake sources, the reason behind its cause and its effects on the building structures, with examples of past earthquake events. Finally, Dr K. Narasimhulu, Professor& Head of the Department, honoured Dr Romanbabu Oinam with a souvenir.

Topic of discussion – Application of energy dissipating devices in earthquake resistant structures

Focus of discussion – The problem of soft storey failure of the buildings and the different strengthen techniques to overcome it. It was also added that the use of different energy dissipating devices in building structures and the inventions of the combined yielding energy dissipating devices for the development of a performance-based design.

Attendees – Department staffs including HOD Dr K. Narasimhulu, final and third year B. Tech and M. Tech students.
